Why a model as context yields better results than an informal description.

Worum es geht

What This Is About

A language model answers every question, including a badly posed one. Describe a technical system informally and have an architecture or test cases generated from it, and something plausible comes back. Whether it fits the system you meant cannot be read off the result alone.

The demonstrator runs the same case twice. Once informally, once through the chain of stakeholder needs, requirements with test cases, and a SysML model. Comparing the two answers shows what the model context contributes.

The example case is plant monitoring: pressure values trigger typed alerts, temperature trends announce a limit violation 45 minutes in advance, and if warnings accumulate within a week, the system recommends maintenance.

The demonstrator contrasts two routes: via needs, requirements, and a SysML model, or via an informal description. WITH MODEL WITHOUT MODEL 01 Five stakeholder needs 02 Requirements and test cases 03 SysML model 04 Prompt with model context Informal description Prompt without model 05 Comparing the answers

Both routes end at the same question to the same language model. The only difference is what it receives as context. That is precisely what the comparison is about.

Was das Werkzeug tut

What the Tool Does

01

01

Five Needs from Five Roles

Operator, maintenance technician, production manager, safety officer, and operator company each state one need in a fixed form: as a role I need X so that Y. Every need is linked to the requirements derived from it.

02

Four Functional Requirements and One Non-Functional

Every requirement names its origin, five test cases verify them. From each test case it is therefore traceable backwards which need it secures.

03

The Same System as a SysML Model

The model shows system context and structure as diagrams instead of prose. What stays ambiguous in the text is decided in the model.

04

The Prompt and the Comparison

The last step shows the prompt that passes the model along as context, and contrasts it with the answer produced without the model.

Was es nicht tut

What It Does Not Do

  • Not a tool for your own use: the demonstrator works on a fixed example case and cannot be filled with your own data.
  • Not a SysML editor: the model is shown, not edited.
  • No benchmark of language models: the comparison shows the effect of the context, not the quality of a particular vendor.

The purpose is to make the difference visible, not to measure it.
